- ACHA teams, and thereby, ACCHL teams shall be permitted to have the option of dressing a maximum of 18 skaters and 3 goaltenders, or 19 skaters and 2 goaltenders.
Game Scheduling:
- Teams may play conference and non-conference teams in non-league games; all games subject to the same ACCHL rules and requirements outlined therein.
- The home team is responsible for securing referees for the contest. If the home and visiting teams switch venues 2 or more weeks prior to the game, it becomes the new home team's responsibility to secure referees. If the switch occurs less than 2 weeks prior to the scheduled game, the original home team remains responsible for obtaining referees.
- If the home team is unable to obtain referees, and cannot demonstrate extenuating circumstances for this failure to the board, the visiting team will be awarded a forfeit.
- A minimum of 2 certified officials is required to officiate each game.
Game Procedures:
- Official League Score Sheets must be used for each game. captions must be designated on scoresheet and/or uniform.
- At the end of the contest, the home team keeps the original scoresheet with copies given to both the visiting team and the referee.
- Games must be a minimum of 60 minutes in length. It is suggested that the following game procedure be followed:
- 5 minute warm up prior to start of game
- 20 minute 1st period
- ICE CUT
- 20 minute 2nd period
- ICE CUT
- 20 minute 3rd period
Tied games (as per NCAA Section #47). If the score is tied at the end of 3 regulation periods, the following shall take place:
- A)
- There shall be a 2 minute intermission
- The teams shall not change ends
- A 5 minute period shall be played
- The team that scores 1st wins and the game ends.
- If a goal is not scored, the game shall be determined a tie.
- B) Any overtime period shall be considered part of the game and all unexpired penalties shall remain in force.
- C) if either team declines to play in the necessary period, the game shall be declared a loss or the declining team.
Non-league games that are played in an ACCHL-home rink must abide by the League rules. Non-League played at non-ACCHL rinks are subject to the home team's rules and procedures. However the League maintains the right to punish any league team, whether through forfeiture, discipline or player suspensions, for any action performed by an ACCHL team that are detrimental to the League.
Uniforms:
- Teams must wear matching uniforms. Every player must wear identical helmets, jerseys, pants, and socks. Failure to fully comply will result in a $100 fine per game.
- The League reserves the right to disqualify a player who is not wearing a matching uniform from a game. Such a disqualification will not be considered a Game Disqualification (DQ) or Suspension. If a team discloses non-compliance of the rule by a member of the opposing team, the referee will disqualify that player from the game. In the best case, it is the responsibility of the referee to make certain that teams are in full compliance with this regulation.
- All players must wear an NCAA approved facemask and helmet.
- All players must display an ACHA logo helmet and sticker located on the helmet in a position specified by division commissioners.
Game Officials:
- The home team must provide and pay for referees and linesmen for each game. There must be at least 1 referee and 2 linesmen or 2 referees available for each game.
- The Home Team must provide at least 2 off-ice officials. One will be the official score-keeper while the other one will be the time keeper.
- Referees and Linesmen must be certified ACCHL, or equivalent Officials. They will use the official NCAA Hockey Rulebook.
Disciplinary Actions:
The following is the maximum number of penalties a player may receive in a game before receiving a Game Misconduct without DQ:
- 2 majors = Game Misconduct
- 4 minors = Game Misconduct
- 3 minors & 1 major = Game Misconduct
For any DQ received during during a game, the following suspensions apply:
First DQ applied
- For the 1st DQ in a non-league game, he must miss the next contest.
- For the 1st DQ in a League game, he must miss the next contest and the next League game their team plays.(If the next game is a League game, the suspension is one game, if the next game is non_league, the suspension is 2 games.)
- If the DQ occurs in the final game of the season, the penalty does not carry over to the next season.
Second DQ earned:
- In a non-League game, he must miss the next 2 contests
- If the next game is a League game, he must sit out that game and the next League game.
- If the next game is non-league, he must sit out that game and the following 2 League games(3 games missed).
- In a League game, he must miss the next two League games regardless of the number intervening non-League games . The player will also be required to sit out the non-League intervening games as well.
Third DQ earned:
- If a player receives a 3rd DQ of the season in a League or non-League game, he will be suspended from the League for the remainder of the season, and serve a 3 game suspension at the beginning of the following season.
- If the DQ occurs in the final game of the season, he must serve a 5 game suspension on the following season.
- If the DQ occurs in the second to last game, the player must serve a 4 game suspension in following season.
- If the DQ occurs in the last or next-to-last game of the season, and the player does not return to the team the following year, the team must pay a $100 fine to the league.
Accumulating 3 game Misconducts in a season equals a DQ, and the player is to serve the subsequent suspension. Each additional Game Misconduct earned for that season is the equivalent to a DQ.
If the team accumulates more than 75 penalty minutes in one game, the head coach is suspended for the next game.
A team will forfeit its contest, with confirmation by the Commissioner, for the following reasons:
- Use of an ineligible player
- Failure to show for a game that was scheduled
- A team's inability to pay League dues or submit required paperwork in a timely manner
- If a referee rules that a game is out of hand due to poor sportsmanship
- Acts detrimental to the League
